R & D

NFIL has been in the fluorine chemistry business for over 60 years, producing bulk refrigerant and fluorinating agents such as HF, BF3 and metal-fluorides, such as KF, SbF5 and many others. NFIL R&D had extended its fluorochemical and specialties business over the years and years of experience in handling most corrosive fluorinating agents.

The more recent extensive growth plans at NFIL, had its first major investment made to build an absolutely new state-of-the-art R&D center, which opened in 2008, followed by the commissioning of a new non cGMP pilot plant to help develop cost effective and efficient processes for various new and existing product pipelines of fluorochemicals of NFIL. This expansion has certainly positioned NFIL to become the most trusted and committed partner for all your fluorination and fluoro-speciality compound needs.

NFIL R&D Center has a total of 20,000 sq. ft. laboratory facilities, including walk-in fume hoods, two Aliphatic and Aromatic Synthetic Labs, along with special laboratories such as Continuous Vapor Phase Fluorination Lab, High Pressure Lab, Electrochemical Fluorination (ECF) Lab and an Inorganic Synthetic Lab.

The R&D team has rich experiences in developing novel as well as innovative cost effective ways of synthesizing various Fluorinated analogues of chemicals including halogenations, nitration and hydrogenation and other expertise. The team also excels to take these processes further to commercially viable manufacturing processes through close interactions between its chemists and engineers to bring value to the organization.

Fluorination capabilities include with Catalytic, Non catalytic, Gas phase, Liquid phase HF Fluorination & Fluorination along with specialization in Halex reactions, Swartz Reactions, HF-Shiemann, Fluoboric acid-BaltzShiemann reactions etc.

Other reactions routinely being carried out in the R&D facility are: Acylation, Alkylation by liquid and vapour phase, Bromination and chlorination, Side chain chlorination, Nitration, Reduction, Catalytic Hydrogenation, Hydro-dehalogenation, Fries Rearrangement, Sulphonation, Esterification, Claisen’s Condensation, Diazotization, Hydrolysis, Oxidation, Ammonolysis, Deamination, Imidation, Grignard’s Reactions, Cyanation etc. and more.

Our growing R&D team members with their years of experience in handling Fluorochemicals and innovative ideas are constantly involved with our manufacturing team members to introduce new products and work with our esteemed customers to address their needs in a timely and cost efficient manner.
